Man arrested after woman pushed onto subway tracks in Brooklyn: police
BUSHWICK, Brooklyn (PIX11) – A man who allegedly pushed a woman onto the tracks at a subway station in Brooklyn Thursday has been arrested, police said.
Shadrach Ford, 30, of Uniondale, was arrested Friday and charged with second-degree attempted murder in connection with the incident that happened at the Jefferson Street station in Bushwick, according to the NYPD.
The 62-year-old victim told PIX11 News she was waiting on the platform a little before 6 a.m. when she was approached by a man asking for a lighter.
The victim said she gave the stranger a lighter, but the two exchanged words. The man then punched her in the face and pushed her onto the subway tracks, police said.
A fellow commuter jumped in to help and pulled the woman back onto the platform, police said. She was taken to the hospital with injuries to her ankle and elbow.
Ford was arrested Friday morning. He is also charged with attempted criminally negligent homicide, assault, reckless endangerment, harassment and criminal trespass, police said.
