Postecoglou admits he ‘loves watching’ these five Spurs players in training
Ange Postecoglou loves watching some of Tottenham’s youngsters train, with the Australian admitting that he is keen to help them fulfil their potential.
Tottenham have an exciting and youthful squad
Tottenham now have one of the youngest squads in the Premier League and that is certainly not an accident, with the club pursuing young, up-and-coming players over established stars since Postecoglou arrived through the door a little over 12 months ago.
The Australian has a track record of getting the best out of young players as he already showed with the likes of Destiny Udogie, Micky van de Ven and Pape Sarr last season.
The Tottenham boss admits that he is keen to do the same with Mikey Moore, Will Lankshear, Wilson Odobert, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, remarking that all of them play with maturity beyond their years.
Postecoglou loves watching the youngsters train
The 59-year-old confessed that he sees it as part of his responsibility to ensure that these highly rated talents are able to successfully develop into the finished products.
Postecoglou told Football.London: “The three we’ve brought in, with Mikey [Moore] and young Will Lankshear as well, Wilson, Archie, Lucas, I just love watching them in training at the moment. They want to play, they want to make an impact.
“They don’t look or behave like 18, 19-year-olds. Which is great for me. When they’re 21, they’re hopefully going to be flying and it’s part of our responsibility to develop them.
“If you want to have a successful period, you can’t just bring in experienced players to have one hit at success.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Ange is certainly the right man to get the best out of these young players but if the Australian does not produce results, it is very unlikely that he will be at Spurs to see some of these young players become finished products.
