Kyrie Has New Kicks
The new shoes sound pretty nice
Kyrie Irving’s years with Boston and Brooklyn didn't work out very well: with the Celtics, he grew antagonistic towards the fans and he was in Brooklyn, between Covid, the controversy over the movie Hebrews to Negroes and more, his career and image took a major hit. It led to Nike canceling his contract, which was an $11 million dollar hit per year.
His move to Dallas seemed to rejuvenate his career though and has a new deal with Anta, a Chinese shoe company. Terms were not released, but presumably he’s being paid well.
Anyway, Irving has a new shoe out, the Anta Kai 1.
Irving has a lot of hats to wear with Anta: he’s also the the Chief Creative Officer of ANTA Basketball for the company.
It’s obviously not Nike, Adidas or And1, and we’re not sure we have seen it stateside, but it’s nice to see him back in the game. And even if it’s not widely available in the U.S., he can sell a whole lot of shoes in China.
