REJECTED Rs 1 Crore Package: Why did Ashneer Grover Quit EY in Just One Day?
Ashneer Grover is very popular on the internet, and his bold statements often go viral on social media platforms. Recently, one of his old clips went viral, sparking conversations about toxic work culture. Billionaire Harsh Goenka also joined the online debate, taking a dig at the BharatPe CEO. Goenka accused Grover of supporting a toxic work environment. In the clip, Grover explains why he quit Ernst & Young (EY) in just one day, despite being offered a hefty package of Rs 1 crore.
Using the viral hashtag #AnnaPerayil, Harsh Goenka wrote, “It’s baffling to see anyone advocate for a toxic environment. Your views?” Notably, the hashtag went viral on X after the 26-year-old Anna Sebastian Perayil. She was the EY Pune employee.

In a heartfelt letter, a grieving mother shared that her daughter lost her life due to overwork. Responding to these accusations, Rajiv Memani, in his capacity as the Chairperson of EY India, issued a statement denying such claims.
What does Ashneer Grover say?
Ashneer Grover, best known as the co-founder of BharatPe, once disclosed about his early workdays at Ernst and Young (EY), where he was drawing in a cool Rs1 crore. Oddly enough, on his very first day, he played up a bout of chest pain to make his exit from the office. As he told it, he found the workspace too dull and brimming with what he curiously called “living corpses.”
The BharatPe co-founder further stated that he quit because he thought the office atmosphere was too dull and filled with “Zinda leash (living corpses).”
He went on and stated that the best office is where employees are fighting, adding, if anyone is saying an office has a toxic culture, then that one is the best, highlighting that the only workplace where work gets done.
