YLE: Finns lost over €27m to scams in first half of 2024

THE NUMBER of financial scams has increased in the first half of the year, according to information collected from banks by Finance Finland.

YLE on Tuesday reported that Finns lost a total of 27.5 million euros to financial scams in the first half of the year, signalling an increase of nearly eight million euros from the first six months of 2023. Banks managed to block and recover transactions worth an additional 18.2 million euros before they were received by scammers.
