Larnaca woman robs and runs down octogenarian
Police overnight in Larnaca arrested a woman for robbing and injuring an 89-year-old man.
The crime was allegedly committed in the afternoon on Thursday in Oroklini.
According to the police, officers received information about the robbery round 2.20pm and went to the scene to find the octogenarian injured outside his residence.
According to the victim the woman, who was a stranger to him, stole his wallet from his residence. The man chased her car and tried to stop her but the suspect allegedly ran into him and left the scene.
The 89-year-old was taken by ambulance to the Larnaca General Hospital, where the doctor on duty established he had suffered injury to his left hip and he was hospitalised.
Police were able to secure the details of the woman’s vehicle which they later located, parked outside the residence of its 25-year-old owner.
Police found the suspect and questioned her, whereupon she handed over part of the stolen money. In a subsequent search of her car, officers found the elderly man’s wallet.
Police arrested the 25-year-old and the case is under ongoing investigation.
