Heroes Everywhere Animal Rescue builds first new building for puppies
VILLE PLATTE, La. (KLFY) -- Heroes Everywhere Animal Rescue has assembled its first of four brand-new buildings to help provide a better life for animals in need in Evangeline Parish.
Matt Baker, a founder of the animal rescue, said the recent uptick in progress and support amazes him.
"It just blows my mind how a year after we started the rescue that all that work and not really seeing much progress. And then all of a sudden, here we go, and things are starting to get built," he said.
He and his wife, Bre, operate the rescue themselves as the parish waits for the time to build its own animal shelter.
Baker said the animal rescue has received enough support from donors and other animal rescues to finally make their dream of building a new shelter for puppies a reality.
Baker said the new shelter will have a sink, puppy crates, and a play area that he calls "puppy palooza."
Although the building itself is small in size, Baker said what the building represents is so much more.
'It's a small building, you know, but it's huge, man. This is huge. A lot of people had to come together behind this to make this building happen. Obviously, it's going to take more to make those other three buildings happen," he said, and that his "heart's full."
Three more buildings are expected to be constructed in the near future.
