The Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA) recently welcomed a delegation from the Parastatal Monitoring Office (PMO) on a courtesy visit to its headquarters.

The visit, led by the Permanent Secretary of PMO, Mrs. Adetutu Ososanya, was aimed at evaluating LASURA’s progress and identifying areas for improvement in alignment with the Lagos State government’s urban renewal agenda.

Tpl. Animashun Oladimeji, General Manager of LASURA, who received the team, provided an overview of the agency’s role in achieving the goals of the THEMES Plus Agenda, of Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu.

He highlighted LASURA’s core mandate to reduce slums by 5% annually across the state, emphasising the importance of sustainable urban regeneration and the resettlement of displaced residents.

Tpl. Animashun proposed the establishment of an internal task force within LASURA to streamline operations and increase revenue generation, which would further support urban renewal initiatives.

Mrs. Adetutu Ososanya, Permanent Secretary of PMO, expressed her office’s commitment to ensuring that agencies under its purview operate efficiently and deliver impactful results.

She commended LASURA’s efforts while acknowledging the challenges it faces, stressing the importance of continued collaboration to improve operational effectiveness and financial transparency.

Part of the discussion during the visit also touched on innovative strategies for slum reduction and regeneration, aligning with the state’s broader vision of creating a more sustainable and livable environment for residents.

The visit reinforces the state’s dedication to urban development and further underscores the importance of inter-agency collaboration in achieving Lagos’ long-term developmental goals.
