Albany trio arrested on felony weapon charges
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany County Sheriff's Office reported the arrest of three people from Albany following a traffic stop. Daquan Stewart, 29, Hashiem Ramsey, 25, and Iahana Green, 22, are all facing felony weapon charges.
On Wednesday around 1 p.m., agents of the sheriff's office stopped a car near Central Avenue and Quail Street in connection to an ongoing narcotics investigation. During the stop, the vehicle's occupants, identified as Stewart, Ramsey and Green, were allegedly found to unlawfully possess two loaded semi-automatic handguns, one of which had been reported stolen out of Anderson County, South Carolina, and was equipped with a high-capacity magazine.
Deputies also recovered quantities of cocaine and a digital scale within the car. The three were then taken into custody and now face the following charges:
- Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property
- Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia
Stewart was additionally charged with a second count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon due to prior criminal convictions. The trio was remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility and are scheduled to be arraigned at the Albany City Criminal Court on Thursday.
