Woman killed in NE Portland fatal hit-and-run, suspect found

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A woman was killed in an apparent hit-and-run in Northeast Portland early Wednesday morning.

At around 2:30 a.m., officers responded to the area of Northeast 85th Avenue and Fremont Street on reports of a woman lying in the road.

On arrival, they found the woman dead at the scene. Officials say she had been hit by a vehicle which was no longer in the area.

Early Wednesday afternoon, police say they found the suspect and the vehicle in question, a Ford pickup.

Northeast Fremont Street was shut down between Northeast Fremont Drive and Northeast 87th Avenue for the duration of the investigation.

No further information has been released at this time.
