From working as a night watchman at a BSNL telephone exchange in Panathur to graduating from the esteemed halls of IIT and now serving as an Assistant Professor at IIM, Ranchi, it has been a remarkable journey for 28-year-old Ranjith Ramachandran, inspiring many to overcome adversity circumstances in their lives.
In a social media post, Ranjith Ramachandran shared a post on Meta featuring a photo proudly revealing that he was born in the same place where an esteemed IIM professor now lives. The accompanying image shows his humble, worn-down tiled hut, covered by a tarpaulin to keep out the rain. Ramachandran’s facebook story, shared on April 9, quickly went viral, gathering an audience of over 37,000 likes.

While Ramachandran was continuing his Economics degree from Pious Xth College in Kasaragod, he supported himself by working as a night watchman at a BSNL telephone exchange in Panathur. In a Facebook post, Ramachandran shared that he attended college during the day and fulfilled his night duty at the exchange.
“I never thought that my Facebook post would go this viral, I had posted it to be an inspiration for each and every one who is fighting with their backs to the wall and I wanted to be an inspiration, nothing more”, Ramachandran was quoted saying to IANS news agency.

Ramachandran admitted that he felt overwhelmed after joining IIT Madras, as the only language he knew was Malayalam. Facing communication challenges, he considered quitting but with encouragement from Dr. Subhash, a professor at IIT Madras, he persevered and graduated with honours and gained admission to IIT Madras. Ramachandran’s determination paid off, eventually leading to his appointment as an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi.
