UNIONDALE, N.Y. (PIX11) – Former President Donald Trump is holding a rally on Long Island Wednesday evening after an apparent second assassination attempt at his Florida golf club over the weekend.

He is expected to draw thousands to Nassau Coliseum for the rally. Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said the arena will be the safest place in the country, referencing the ongoing joint effort between the Secret Service and local police.

"By going to all these rallies, I speak to individuals in the lines and you can’t replace this experience," said Maggie Agnew, a Trump supporter. She told PIX11 News she's been to 39 of his rallies.

Law enforcement is also bracing for counter demonstrations nearby. Members of Nassau County's Haitian community rallied outside of a Haitian restaurant near the Coliseum on Tuesday.

"You are not only retraumatizing this community that's going through a lot in Haiti right now, but then you come to a place where you know there’s a lot of us and you just think we are going to be quiet, and that’s why it's so important for us to speak up now," said Mimi Pierre Johnson, who lives in Nassau County.

Tickets are required for the rally, which starts at 7 p.m. Parking gates are set to open at 8 a.m.

Items prohibited at the rally include backpacks, glass or metal containers, signs and more.

Ryan Routh, 58, is facing federal charges in connection to the assassination attempt in Florida.
