Tottenham suffer North London Derby defeat

Spurs are still licking their wounds from the North London derby loss on Sunday, with Arsenal registering a third consecutive win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

There has been a major inquest on social media over the past 48 hours about what is going wrong at the club, with some fans pointing fingers at Ange Postecoglou’s tactics while others are critical of the club’s recruitment.

Jordan believes that Spurs’ issue has to do with personnel, suggesting that two of the players who started against the Gunners should be playing for mid-table sides instead.

Johnson and Kulusevski come in for criticism

The former Crystal Palace owner told talkSPORT (16/09/24): “I think they will struggle to win anything this year because I don’t think they are good enough. I don’t think the players that they have bought are good enough.

“I look at Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson and think they are decent players if you are a mid-table Premier League side. They are not decent players if you are trying to win something with this team.

Jordan insisted that the jury is still out on Tottenham’s record signing, Dominic Solanke, claiming that the centre-forward spurned a big chance to find the back of the net against the Gunners in his first home game.

He added: “Solanke, we’ll see. The reasons why they buy Solanke some will say is for a variety of different reasons but mostly it’s because the player wanted to play for Spurs.

“The statistics they bought him for seem to match the way they want to play, but people like Solanke have to start scoring goals. You would expect a centre-forward to start scoring goals and the chance he had in that game was more than a good chance.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I think that is quite harsh on Kulusevski as I do not think the Swede was bad against Arsenal.

Unfortunately, Johnson is struggling for confidence at the moment and it is unclear if the youngster has the character and mental strength to come through this difficult spell.
