Jewellery Quarter
Sarehole Mill

Stretching our a bit, it's a good base to visit
Warwick
Stratford
Black Country museum


Birmingham itself is relatively young* so most of the local history is centred around the industrial revolution and craftmanship so visiting for historical sites can be a little niche. But I'd hazard a guess that - beyond visiting something historical - there is little you couldn't do in Birmingham that you can in any other major city

*as am aside, I only discovered a couple of weeks that Birmingham was the first UK city to be designated a city that didn't have an Anglican cathedral
