Majid Shoja, the Khorasan Razavi border forces commander, has announced the seizure of 12 kilograms and 720 grams of gold smuggled from Afghanistan in the province’s “Taybad” region.

According to a report by the IRNA news agency on Monday, September 16, Majid Shoja mentioned that the total value of this gold amounts to 472 billion and 827 million rials.

The report states that “border guards at the border control post became suspicious of a vehicle attempting to enter the country from Afghanistan. Upon a thorough inspection, they discovered 34 gold bars weighing 12 kilograms and 720 grams.”

The Khorasan Razavi border forces commander emphasized that the command’s border guards always deal with smugglers with “alertness and decisiveness.”

Iranian officials previously reported the discovery of 6 kilograms of gold bars worth 260 billion rials on the border strip of Mariwan County.

Khorasan Razavi province is located in the east, about 302 kilometers from the shared border with Afghanistan.

The vigilant efforts of Iranian border forces, particularly in Khorasan Razavi, highlight the ongoing challenges and successes in preventing illegal smuggling activities along Afghanistan’s border. The recent discoveries underscore the commitment to securing national borders and curbing illicit trade.
