Applications for the Coastwide Nutria Control Program are now open

LOUISIANA (KLFY) -- The Coastwide Nutria Control Program is now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 season, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries announced Tuesday.
Participants can earn $6 per nutria tail. The program aims to harvest up to 400,000 nutria, Wildlife and Fisheries said in a social media post.
Participants must have a valid Louisiana trapping license, permission to trap/hunt on appropriate land, complete legal property description and map and complete a W-9 Tax Form.
The harvesting season is Nov. 20 - March 31.
