What did Romero retweet?

Tottenham are still licking their wounds following their loss to Arsenal, with the home side once again coming away from the game feeling like they should have got more from it.

A Gabriel Magalhaes header in the 74th minute proved the difference between the two sides, with the Brazilian evading Romero from a corner-kick to head home from close range.

After the game, the Argentine centre-back’s controversial social media activity caught the eye, with the Spurs man deciding to retweet a report from journalist Gaston Edul.

Edul had claimed in the X post that Tottenham were the only club that had asked the players to fly back to London by themselves after international duty rather than arranging their flights.

He suggested that Romero and others were hence tired when they took to the field for Sunday’s derby.

However, the Tottenham vice-captain promptly deleted the tweet after posting it, instead writing: “It hurts to lose a derby, but I have no doubt that we will turn this bad start to the season around. Let’s all be together @SpursOfficial, also at this moment. Thanks to all the fans for always supporting us.”

Postecoglou reacts to Romero’s criticism

When asked about the situation, Postecoglou has now told Football.London: “It was mentioned to me [after the game] but it wasn’t mentioned to me before the game.

“All the players were back by Thursday for a Sunday game. Prior to the game, there was nothing mentioned.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is impossible to comment on this situation without knowing the specifics of what happened but one would have thought that Romero and others would have raised this concern before the game rather than after. It sounds like Ange is of the opinion that this is nothing more than an excuse.
