After months of damning lawsuits, Sean “Diddy” Combs is finally in federal custody. Combs is expected to appear before a federal judge in New York on Tuesday. His indictment is also expected to be unsealed, according to AP.

The Bad Boy mogul was arrested on Monday, September 16, in New York City by Homeland Security agents and federal investigators. The arrest follows a federal grand jury indictment, according to reports from ABC News.

While Combs’ exact charges haven’t been released yet, his legal team is already speaking out.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs arrested in New York City, his lawyers release a statement.

Combs’ lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, didn’t hold back in his statement, saying they were “disappointed” and  calling the arrest “an unjust prosecution.”

He said, “We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community.”

Agnifilo admitted that Diddy is  “imperfect,” but also said: “He’s no criminal.” He added, “To his credit, Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation. He voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”

Diddy has been under legal scrutiny – and drama – for some time.

Combs’ arrest comes after months of media reports about federal raids, pending lawsuits, and the mystery surrounding his whereabouts. In March, his properties in both Los Angeles and Miami were raided by authorities.

This legal drama has been brewing for a while, especially after the bombshell lawsuit from Cassie Ventura. Although that case was settled quickly, many believe it opened the floodgates for more. Currently, it’s reported that there are at least 10 active lawsuits against the “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” rapper.

While Combs has mostly kept quiet about current legal issues, he did break his silence back in December 2023. At the time, he posted, “Enough is enough,” defending his character. “For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy,” he wrote.

The post has since been deleted.
