Ebony and Ivory: Rado Unveils True Square Open Heart Limited Edition in Black and White

Since 1986, when the brand first introduced its cutting-edge, scratch-resistant high-tech ceramic watches, the first models have been either black or white. Over the years, Lengnau-based Rado has become renowned for its expertise in materials and has frequently experimented with a spectrum of vibrant high-tech ceramic colors.

Now, with the launch of two limited edition True Square Open Heart models – each limited to 888 pieces – Rado presents a first: watches that combine black and white within the square monobloc case and bracelet. To enhance this striking visual impression, the dials feature black and white diamond hour markers.

While the case design emphasizes purity of form, harmony of contrasts and balanced proportions, the “Open Heart” skeletonized dials reveal the opulence of traditional finishing techniques and the intricate components of the movement. These details include perlage, rhodium-plated facets and Geneva Stripes. The escapement, the beating heart of the movement, is prominently displayed at the 12 o’clock position.

Speaking of the movement, the R734 automatic caliber offers an impressive 80-hour power reserve and is equipped with a Nivachron anti-magnetic hairspring, underscoring Rado’s commitment to combining innovation with aesthetics.
