Showing at WatchTime New York 2024: Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon 38 Red Gold

0

Arnold & Son is once again joining WatchTime New York this year, with the brand poised to showcase some incredible novelties at the show. The event, which will take place at Manhattan’s Gotham Hall from October 20 to 22, will bring together over thirty-five incredible brands and countless collectors to experience a three-day weekend of impressive horology. This year, the English-rooted, Swiss watchmaker will present the new Perpetual Moon 38 Red Gold, made available in two limited editions: Blue Aventurine and Cliff Grey.

While the focus of this new duo is undoubtedly found in their dials, the 38mm case of the design is familiar Arnold & Son, embodying the brand’s commitment to understated elegance and precision in a 38mm red gold body. Smaller and more refined than its 41.5mm predecessor, this sizing maintains the brand’s signature design language while adapting to a more discreet, slender profile. Measuring just 10.44mm in thickness, the case is meticulously polished, with the domed sapphire crystal accentuating the warm glow of the red gold.

Underneath the sapphire, Arnold & Son offers the two dial options, both of which feature understated red gold details for their hands and indices.

The first, seen in the Blue Aventurine version, is inspired by the starry night sky, with the gemstone constellated with metallic particles to produce the celestial effect. Its namesake moonphase, which takes up much of the top of the dial, is produced from the same material. The moonphase additionally features a mother-of-pearl moonphase disc that’s surrounded by hand-painted constellations of Cassiopeia and Ursa Major.

The second watch in the duo is seen in the Cliff Grey edition, which features a sunray textured look and provides a more understated appearance. This model features a midnight blue sky for its moonphase, yet keeps the same charming Super-Luminova accented details in the mother-of-pearl moon disc and constellations.

Powering the *Perpetual Moon 38* is the hand-wound *A&S1612* calibre, developed by Arnold & Son. The movement measures 30mm in diameter and is 4.95mm thick, making it a perfect fit for the 38mm case. With a 90-hour power reserve and a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, the movement is designed for long-term reliability.

The moonphase complication is accurate to 122 years, meaning it would theoretically only deviate by one day over that time period if kept running through that period. This precision is a key feature of the movement, which also includes rhodium-plated plates with Côtes de Genève finishing and polished bridges, these impressive details are visible via a sapphire exhibition caseback.

The new Blue Aventurine edition of the Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon 38 Red Gold will be limited to 88 editions, with pricing marked at CHF 36,700, or about $43,400 when converted to USD. The Cliff Grey edition will be limited to 28 pieces with pricing marked at CHF 32,400, or about $38,300 USD.
