Driver fatally shot, hits pedestrian in Queens: police
ST. ALBANS, Queens (PIX11) – A driver was fatally shot in the head, then lost control of his vehicle and hit a pedestrian in Queens on Monday, police said.
The incident happened near 117th Road and Farmers Boulevard in St. Albans around 4:50 p.m., according to the NYPD.
The 66-year-old driver was traveling eastbound on Baisley Boulevard and turning onto northbound Farmers Boulevard when he was shot in the head, police said. The driver lost control of his SUV and hit a 23-year-old woman, according to police.
Witnesses said a group of teenagers were involved in the shooting. Surveillance video obtained by PIX11 News showed a crowd dispersing after the shots were fired. It's unclear who was the intended target of the shooting.
The driver was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead, police said. The woman suffered leg injuries and was hospitalized, authorities said.
Police identified the driver as Queens resident William Alcindor.
No arrests have been made.
