Food trucks, craft beer coming to Lake Shawnee Bark Park

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Local pet owners are being invited to Lake Shawnee's Bark Park later this month for a fun outing with pets, food and beer.

Shawnee County Parks and Recreation (SCP+R) announced in a press release on Monday, Sept. 16 that people can bring their dogs to the debut of a new event called Tails + Ales. This runs from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 and will be held at Lake Shawnee's Bark Park.

SCP+R spokesman Cory Hollar said the event brings together the fun presence of your pets with craft beer tastings and food provided by local vendors and food trucks. Food trucks and vendors appearing at the event include the following:

• Happy Basset Brewing.
• Ronn's Jazzy Doggs.
• Suede's Wagon Tail Bakery.
• Woof's Play and Stay.
• Poo Squad.

Guests can also take part in multiple fun events such as a dog costume contest, little dog race, obstacle course race, hot dog eating contest and pup cup eating contest. The event is open to everyone and free to attend.
