According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Tottenham Hotspur failed with a late attempt to sign Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu in the recent transfer window.
Tottenham made a late bid for Patrick Dorgu
The report says that in the dying stage of the window, Spurs arrived with an offer to sign Dorgu but the exact amount offered by the North London club is not mentioned.
The Italian side decided to send back the offer as they wanted to keep the 19-year-old for one more season.
It is revealed that Tottenham were not the only ones who explored a move for the youngster, with Napoli, AC Milan and Juventus also allegedly making moves for the Dane.
Patrick Dorgu could cost around £30m
It is revealed that Lecce have informed Dorgu’s representatives that they will listen to offers for him next summer, with the Serie A side valuing the player at €30m to €40m (£25.3m-£33.7m).
The publication adds that Spurs or another big side could sign the left-back in January and loan him back to Stadio Via del Mare until the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Calcio Lecce also claim that Ange Postecoglou’s side ‘remain very interested’ in Dorgu but they say that Lecce have now begun talks to extend the full-back’s contract.

Left-back is clearly the area where Tottenham are the lightest, with neither Ben Davies nor Micky van de Ven being natural fits for the inverted role that Udogie plays.
Postecoglou uses Spence as the Italian’s main understudy, so one can understand why Ange would prioritise a signing like Dorgu in January.
