Three people died after a four-vehicle collision on a San Bernardino freeway late Saturday.

Officers responded around 11:26 p.m. to the crash on the 215 Freeway, south of University Parkway, according to Officer Ivan Sandoval, a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol.

A 2018 Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound at an unknown speed, while a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia semi-trailer truck was stopped on the right shoulder.

The Toyota then veered into the shoulder and struck the Freightliner’s rear, and the impact pushed the Toyota to the left-most lane of traffic, where it hit a 2010 Acura MDX.

The crash disabled the Toyota, which remained in the lanes of traffic. A northbound 2024 Ram 3500 pickup truck traveling at an unknown speed crashed into the Toyota.

Emergency medical personnel responded and declared an unknown female driver and two unknown female passengers from the Corolla dead at the scene. The drivers of the Freightliner, Acura and Ram sustained minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. Officials ask anyone with information to call the San Bernardino highway patrol office at 909-383-4247.
