THIS current IPL team captain is set to join RCB for IPL 2025, tells fan…

The action is picking up ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction later this year. One should expect plenty of big time player movements ahead of the mega auction. One of these moves could see a current IPL team captain joining Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team either ahead of the auction or during it.

The player in question is KL Rahul, who is currently the captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) team. Rahul recently met LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka, but the latter declined to comment if the Indian opener will continue to lead the IPL side in 2025 edition.

Rahul, in fact, told a fan in a viral video that he is ‘hoping’ that rumours around him joining RCB are true. In a video which went viral on social media, the fan confronted KL Rahul, who admitted that he was aware of the rumours linking him to his former team. “Let’s hope so,” Rahul can be heard as saying in the video.

It will be a homecoming of sorts for Rahul, who has played his domestic cricket for Karnataka and turned out for RCB for four years between 2013 and 2016. Last month, LSG owner Goenka opened up on his bond with Rahul during Zaheer Khan’s unveiling as their team mentor.

“Look, I’ve been meeting KL regularly over last three years. I’m a little surprised this meeting got so much attention. As I’ve said we have not taken any call till the retention rules are out,” Goenka told reporters in Kolkata.

“But KL has been an integral and important part of the LSG family since inception. He’s played a very important role. He’s like family and will be family,” he added.

When asked LSG captaincy in IPL 2024, Goenka said they are yet to arrive at a decision and are waiting for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to release the rules regarding retention.

“We have all of September, October and November to decide that. Let the policies be out. We have not even thought about the team going forward, whether retention will be three-four-five or six, we have no clue,” Goenka said.

In 19 matches for RCB, Rahul scored 417 runs with 4 fifties at a strike-rate of 145.29. In IPL 2024, Rahul scored 520 runs with 4 fifties at a strike-rate of 136.13 for RCB.
