Rohit and Team Put in the Hard Yards: Third Training Session in Chennai
Prior to the first Test match against Bangladesh, Rohit Sharma and company had yet another rigorous training session, with all 16 members of the squad reporting for duty at the Chepauk here on Monday.
The India squad players participated in their third training session since coming to this place last week following a day off. On Thursday, the first Test gets underway.
Virat Kohli was one of the first group of hitters to touch the nets, as is frequently the case. Southpaw Yashasvi Jaiswal was in the neighboring net, where he and Kohli were up against home star R Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah.
The following group of hitters comprised captain Rohit, Shubman Gill, and Sarfaraz Khan, who was the final player to arrive after competing in the Duleep Trophy match at Anantapur’s second round. The captain kept Bangladesh’s slow bowling assault in mind as he concentrated on playing spinners.
Along with local bowlers, Mohammed Siraj, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja faced a lot of throwdowns.
There was a fair bit of bounce on the practice pitch in the main square.
Prior to the first game of the series against Bangladesh, who are riding high after winning the series in Pakistan, India has two additional practise sessions planned.
In the playing eleven, the majority of players choose themselves. India is likely to start the match with three spinners and two pacers because the Chennai surface normally favours the spinners.
Ashwin, Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav are the anticipated spinners, and Bumrah and Siraj will split the speed department equally. Despite his strong all-around performances in a variety of formats, Axar Patel could have to sit out.
After a nearly two-year absence, Pant is anticipated to make his Test comeback as a batsman. In such scenario, Dhruv Jurel, who performed admirably in his first series against England, will be benched.
