Cyprus job vacancies rise 5.8 per cent year-on-year in second quarter

The number of job vacancies rose by 5.8 per cent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2024, with an increase of 4.1 per cent compared to the first quarter of the year.

According to the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat), job vacancies in the second quarter of 2024 amounted to 13,778.

This marks an increase of 751 positions, corresponding to a rise of 5.8 per cent when compared to the same quarter of the previous year, which recorded 13,027 vacancies.

Moreover, when compared to the first quarter of 2024, there was an increase of 549 positions, representing a rise of 4.1 per cent. 

The vacancy rate as a percentage of total employees and job vacancies in the second quarter of 2024 remained stable at 3 per cent, unchanged from the previous quarter, and up slightly from 2.9 per cent in the corresponding quarter of 2023. 

The highest vacancy rates in the second quarter of 2024 were observed in the accommodation and food services sector at 6.9 per cent, followed by transportation and warehousing at 3.7 per cent, and information and communication technologies at 3.4 per cent.
