KANSAS CITY (KSNT) - Sunday's matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals was decided by the final play of the game.

The Chiefs edged out the Bengals 26-25, giving them their third-consecutive win in the series.

The Bengals got on the board first with a 22-yard field goal on their opening drive, but the Chiefs defense held its own in the red zone. Cincinnati was unable to get in the end zone from the Chiefs' 4-yard line, forced to kick to go up 3-0 early in the first quarter.

Kansas City drove down to the Bengals' one-yard line on its opening driving, but ended up with an almost identical result. Harrison Butker drilled at 19-yard field goal to even the game at 3-3.

A Patrick Mahomes interception turned into an eventual second-quarter touchdown for Cincinnati, but the 10-3 lead didn't hold for long. A 44-yard touchdown pass from Mahomes to Rashee Rice tied things back up at 10, giving Rice his first touchdown reception of the season.

Chiefs' rookie Carson Steele then fumbled late in the second quarter, allowing Cincinnati to kick a field goal and take a 16-10 lead into halftime.

To open the second half, the Chiefs assembled a 70-yard scoring drive that ended with offensive lineman Wanya Morris hauling in a touchdown pass. Kansas City took a 17-16 lead, its first of the game. Cincinnati responded on the following drive with a touchdown of its own, but missed the extra point, making the game 22-17.

With just under three minutes to play in the fourth quarter, the Bengals held a 25-23 lead, but were forced to punt after Chamarri Conner sacked Burrow. Kansas City took over deep in their own territory with just over two minutes to play, and an eventual defensive pass interference call on 4th and 16 flipped the script to but the Chiefs in Bengals' territory.

Harrison Butker then drilled a game-winning, 51-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Chiefs 26-25 over the Bengals.

Kansas City heads to Atlanta on Sunday, Sept. 22 to face the Falcons. Kickoff is set for 7:20 p.m.
