The red handprint is a symbol for the MMIW movement – Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. It stands for “all of the missing sisters whose voices are not heard” and for “the silence of the media and law enforcement in the midst of this crisis,” according to Native Hope.
In March 2023, Auli’i Cravalho arrived at a premiere also bringing light to the movement.
At tonight’s Emmys, D’Pharaoh is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on Reservation Dogs. He makes history as the first Indigenous actor to be nominated in any lead acting category.
The show is being hosted by Schitt’s Creek stars and real-life father-son duo Eugene Levy and Dan Levy. Make sure to tune in TONIGHT at 8/7c on ABC to watch the show and look back at the nominations list to see who is up for awards!
