'You belong in jail': Democratic leader's post-shooting Trump comment causes MAGA meltdown

0

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is in hot water with MAGA fans after a social media post roughly 30 minutes after an apparent assassination attempt against Donald Trump.

Trump on Sunday was golfing when shots were fired at an individual who CNN reports was intending to assassinate Trump. Trump himself reportedly said that he "really wanted to finish the hole."

Just after the initial reports on the shooting attempt, Jeffries made a post on social media that enraged Trump supporters. It is not clear whether or not Jeffries was aware of those reports about what the FBI has called an apparent assassination attempt on the ex-president.

"Extreme MAGA Republicans are the party of a national abortion ban and Trump’s Project 2025," Jeffries wrote. "We must stop them."

The second part of Jeffries' statement is what caught the attention of the former president's devotees.

Trump’s former intelligence officer Richard Grenell said, "This language must stop."

"Do you realize that if Donald Trump is assassinated that our country will be ripped in two?" Grenell asked. "I fear for America with these tactics. Your language is radical and contains two lies. For the sake of our country, stop."

Pro-Trump podcaster Stephen L. Miller replied with, "The Dem House leader 30 minutes after a second assassination attempt on Trump."

Former litigator David Freiheit also chimed in:

"Looks like someone was listening to you. You belong in jail."

Libs of TikTok wrote, "What the actual F is wrong with you."

Andy Ngo, a right-wing journalist and provocateur, asked Jeffries, "Are you and your peers in your party very disappointed today that a person who took direct action was stopped by the Secret Service, Rep. Jeffries?"

Former GOP lawmaker George Santos, who was indicted for fraud, wrote, "You have blood on your hands you vile hack."
