Fox News host pushes back on GOP lawmaker crying 'conspiracy' after Trump shooting attempt
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) received some rare pushback from Fox News on Sunday when the GOP lawmaker tried to paint a purported assassination attempt against Donald Trump as a "conspiracy" from the left.
A suspect reportedly planned to assassinate Trump over the weekend, but the ex-president walked away unharmed. This led to a statement by the wife of a key Trump impeachment witness, but the comment did not go over well.
For his part, Burchett went on Fox News and stoked conspiracy theory claims already swirling about the individual who was discovered hiding behind a bush with an AK-47 on Trump's golf course.

"The left has just ramped up their vitriol," Burchett told the conservative network's host, Eric Shawn. Burchett pointed to purported tweets from liberals suggesting those attempting to shoot Trump should improve their aim.
"They know exactly what they're doing," he added, before saying he's "leaning towards conspiracy on this now."
Shawn interrupted, saying, "It may not be a conspiracy. It may be a situation of a lone wolf. Someone who is disturbed."
Burchett persisted in the claims, and eventually also blamed diversity programs at the Secret Service. Shawn gave more push back on that issue.
