Three displaced, pets rescued after Hillsboro house fire
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Three people were displaced and four pets were rescued after a house fire in Hillsboro Sunday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the 2900 block of Southeast Creek Court after neighbors reported seeing smoke coming from a nearby home. Officials said the calls showed particular concern for the homeowner since they were wheelchair bound.
The homeowner was able to safely get outside with help from a neighbor. However, their four dogs and one cat were still inside.
Police officers who first arrived on the scene reported seeing smoke coming through the roof and flames coming from a back window.
Once firefighters managed to knock down the blaze, they rescued two dogs from inside the house. Two other dogs were then evacuated from the backyard and a cat was also rescued.
No injuries were reported. However, three people and the pets were displaced by the fire.
Officials say a failed electrical outlet in the home's dining room and kitchen caused the fire.
