9 workers from Afghanistan die in Pakistan Coal Mine accident

Pakistani media have reported that Five Afghanistan workers, including two brothers, lost their lives due to the release of toxic gas in a coal mine in the Shahrag area of Harnai district, Balochistan province, Pakistan.

According to the Dawn newspaper, citing local officials in Balochistan, This incident occurred on the morning of Saturday, September 14, in southwestern Pakistan, when six miners entered a private coal mine to begin their work.

Local authorities explained that the miners, including two brothers, lost consciousness after being exposed to methane gas when they entered the mine and later died.

The incident’s victims have been identified as Rahman Shah, Shafiullah, Zubairullah, and Mutiullah.

As reported by Dawn, the coal mine has since been shut down, and the contractor has been handed over to judicial authorities for further investigation.

The tragic incident underscores the dangerous working conditions faced by Afghan laborers in Pakistani coal mines, highlighting the need for stricter safety measures in such hazardous environments.
