Red-hot Marcio Lassiter claims all-time PBA 3-point record
MANILA, Philippines – San Miguel star Marcio Lassiter claimed a piece of history and further solidified his status as one of the finest shooters in PBA history.
Lassiter knocked down four quick triples in the first quarter of their PBA Governors’ Cup clash against Barangay Ginebra on Sunday, September 15, to surpass Jimmy Alapag for the No. 1 spot in the all-time PBA three-point list.
Needing just three treys to smash the previous record of 1,250 three-pointers Alapag established in 2016, Lassiter came out with guns blazing and shot 4-of-5 from beyond the arc in the opening frame.
The 37-year-old veteran sank a pair of triples within the first five minutes to tie Alapag then broke the record at the 7:11 mark, pulling up from the top of the key on a fastbreak.
Riding on his hot hand, Lassiter buried another three-pointer less than two minutes later as he hiked his career tally to 1,252 treys and counting.

Lassiter has been on a tear after a bumpy start to the conference that saw him miss the first two games due to sickness.
Starting the tournament at No. 3, Lassiter fired four triples in a 119-114 win over NLEX on September 11 to eclipse Allan Caidic (1,242), whose record set in 1999 stood for nearly two decades before being shattered by Alapag.
Lassiter then made five treys in a 139-127 victory over Phoenix on September 13 as he closed in on Alapag before he got the job done on Sunday against the Gin Kings, much to the delight of a sizable crowd at the Araneta Coliseum.
Among the top three PBA three-point leaders, Lassiter achieved the feat in significantly fewer games.
Lassiter entered the PBA history books in 538 games, while Alapag and Caidic accomplished their records in 601 and 598 games, respectively. – Rappler.com
