Jay Leno Reveals the Surprising Story of When He First Met Drew Barrymore (She Was Only 3 Years Old!)

Jay Leno is explaining how he was first introduced to Drew Barrymore when she was just 3 years old!

The late television alum and comedian recalled the tale while driving around the lot where The Drew Barrymore Show is filmed alongside the star and co-host Ross Mathews.

In a video, he explained: “I met Drew when she was 3 years old,” to Drew‘s surprise.

“I was dating her aunt. She had to babysit,” he continued.

“I picked you up and I bounced you on my knee. It was just very funny,” he added to Drew.

She was clearly shocked that he had never talked about this childhood moment with her before.

“That is so crazy!” Ross says.

The former child actor asks if Leno remembered anything about how she behaved.

“Well, you were a baby! I was the boyfriend of the babysitter,” he said of whether he remembered how she behaved, and said he was trying to get her to laugh.

Ross wondered if Jay recognized her a few years later when she appeared in her breakout role as Gertie in E.T.

Jay said he watched the movie and realized: “That’s the little girl.”

Years later, the two reunited when she made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 1994. She returned for multiple interviews before his final episode in 2014.
