FORECAST DISCUSSION:
Good Sunday morning!
Sunny weather remains steady in time for the end of the weekend! Temperatures will continue to stay very warm for this time of year. As we head into the work week, there are some changes in the forecast that could potentially help us with the stretch of very dry weather we've had.
High pressure will keep skies calm and clear throughout the rest of today. We're sunny all the way until sundown, helping temperatures push into the upper 80s. Some of us have the slight potential of breaking into the 90s today. Going into Monday, we're still mainly sunny, but temperatures will be a little cooler in the mid 80s.
The tropics have slowly started to wake up. Tropical Storm Gordon remains in the Central Atlantic without much threat to the continental U.S. However, there is an area of potential interest along the Carolina coast with a 50% chance of developing into a depression in the next 2 and 7 days.
Regardless of whether it organizes or not, we'll be keeping our eye on the potential for some of the moisture to move into our area. Starting on Tuesday, some isolated showers could push into the eastern half of the state. Going into Wednesday, isolated showers through the day will be our best chance of rain in the week ahead.
We're gradually clearing back up through Thursday and into Friday. Temperatures will have cooled into the lower 80s for the middle of the week, but will be back in the mid 80s in time for next weekend. Skies continue to clear for mostly sunny weather by the start of next weekend.
