Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez Step Out Together with Kids for First Time Since Divorce News

Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on Aug. 20, after two years of marriage

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez stepped out together with their kids amid their divorce.

On Saturday, Sept. 14, the former couple were photographed together at The Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, marking the first time they have reunited publicly alongside their kids since Lopez filed for divorce from the actor on Aug. 20.

In photos of the outing shared by DeuxMoi, Affleck, 52, and Lopez, 55, could be seen standing outside of the hotel and then walking inside together. The Air actor wore blue jeans and a blue button-up shirt with dark sunglasses, while Lopez sported a black long-sleeve crop top, matching black jeans and light-shaded sunglasses. 

The pair were also photographed together inside a black SUV, with Affleck behind the wheel and the Atlas actress in the passenger’s seat.

Lopez and Affleck's joint outing comes nearly a month after the “Can’t Get Enough” singer filed for divorce from Affleck after more than two years of marriage. In her filing, she listed April 26, 2024, as the date of their separation. 

"She tried really hard to make things work, and is heartbroken," a source told PEOPLE of Lopez at the time of the filing. “The kids are a top priority, as they always have been.”

Last week, Lopez attended the premiere of her and Affleck's new movie, Unstoppable, at the Toronto International Film Festival. She wore a dazzling silver floor-length Tamara Ralph dress for the event, and was spotted chatting with Affleck’s longtime friend and production partner Matt Damon for more than 20 minutes at the premiere's afterparty.

“Jen and Matt began talking and had a long, deep conversation,” an insider told PEOPLE, adding that the two laughed and spoke more seriously. They also held hands as they chatted for several minutes.

Lopez stars in the sports biopic about wrestler Anthony Robles, and Affleck and Damon, 53, produced the film under their production company Artists Equity.

Affleck did not attend the movie premiere and was instead photographed stepping out with two of his kids — Samuel, 12, and Seraphina, 15 — in Los Angeles that same day. He shares the kids, along with 18-year-old daughter Violet, with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

Following Lopez's trip to Toronto, a source told PEOPLE that the Marry Me star was “so over all the attention on her personal life” and that she was feeling more positive after doing press for Unstoppable. 

“The film festival truly uplifted her,” the source explained. “She was excited to focus on work again."

A separate source told PEOPLE that Lopez “seems much happier than a few weeks ago,” adding that she “continues to look for a new home for her and the kids” and is “taking her time."
