UK agrees public control of key electricity operator

Britain's new Labour government on Friday said it would take control of key electricity operations to tighten the country's energy security and aid transition to a net zero carbon economy. The state will buy Electricity System Operator - which oversees the balancing of supply and demand in the UK's electricity grid - from National Grid for GBP630 million ($828 million), a joint statement said.
