Mom, the Janes are fighting again! At Friday night’s concert in Boston, Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell punched guitarist Dave Navarro on stage in the middle of a song, reports several outlets, including Rolling Stone. Footage from the concert shows Farrell walking up to Navarro as he’s shredding on the guitar, and as he gets closer, he throws one punch on his arm before hitting him again. A crew member intervenes, and an agitated Farrell walks off stage. Audience members audibly wonder if that was “for real.” The concert ended after 11 songs and Eric Avery, the band’s bassist, apologized to the audience. Vulture has reached out to the band for comment.

Farrell’s wife, Etty Farrell, posted footage of the brawl on Instagram, explaining the situation from a different point of view. She wrote, “Perry’s frustration had been mounting, night after night, he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band. Perry had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night. But when the audience in the first row, started complaining up to Perry cussing at him that the band was planning too loud and that they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it.” She declared Avery to be the winner of the fight— an unbiased decision.

Tension has reportedly risen since Jane’s Addiction began their reunion tour in August. It was the first time the band (Perry, Navarro, Avery, Stephen Perkins) had all played together since 2010. The reunion was aligned with their first new song with Avery in 34 years. As for the rest of the tour? Jane’s Addiction’s next concert is on Sunday at Bridgeport. Vulture has reached out for comment on whether or not the show will go on. But if it does, it might be a little awkward.
