This was fun to see.

Duke has had some great dunkers over the years. Gene Banks was the first great one - his windmill jam over the 7-4 Ralph Sampson remains an iconic Duke play. Johnny Dawkins put a reverse dunk up against two Navy defenders in 1986 that was tremendous. Robert Brickey had his share. And of course most recently, Zion Williamson took the dunk to a new level, with 360’s, a massive slam over Virginia’s 7-1 Jay Huff.

It’s not as common with the women's program of course.

Female dunkers are just not as common, nor are dunks by women as powerful. Nonetheless, there are more and more women who can dunk and Duke freshman Toby Fournier is one of them.

Fournier, a 6-2 freshman from Canada, shows off her hops with a pass off the backboard from Vanessa de Jesus.

Speaking of de Jesus, she sat out last year with a knee injury and looks good to go. That’s great to see.

And speaking of knee injuries, with fellow freshman Arianna Robinson out for the year with one of her own, Fournier may be athletic enough to help inside. We’ll see. This is pretty great to see.
