Day 3 of the U-23 Baseball World Cup 2024 Super Round began with another win for No. 10 Puerto Rico, which shut out No. 5 Venezuela. Puerto Rico completed their perfect run and will play in the World Championship Final against No. 1, defending U-23 World Champions Japan.
Japan took the field for their last game of the Super Round against No. 6 Korea.
No. 24 China took over No. 17 Nicaragua.
Korea, China, Nicaragua, and Venezuela are all in play for the bronze-medal game. There are two possible three-way ties. If Japan and Nicaragua win, Venezuela, Korea, and China will be tied at 1-4. If Korea and China win, they will be in a 2-3 three-way tie with Nicaragua.
In the meantime, the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) have announced the need to modify the Medal Games schedule on Sunday, September 15, due to an alarming weather forecast.
Typhoon Bebinca is approaching southern China and will most likely strike in the late afternoon on Sunday, causing inclement weather.
The Bronze and Gold Medal games will be played simultaneously at 9:00 (local time) at the Baseball Softball Conference Center in Shaoxing, China.
