Virat Kohli or Jasprit Bumrah? India’s premier fast bowler reveals fittest cricketer in Indian dressing room

New Delhi: Managing workload has become one of the most important factors for Indian cricketers. With the amount of cricket being played throughout the year, staying fit has become of paramount importance, especially for fast bowlers who are injury-prone. One of the premier fast bowlers in the modern era, Jasprit Bumrah has time and again displayed what it takes to be at the top of his fitness despite the rigorous schedule of international cricket and IPL.

Recently, during an event in the Capital, Bumrah was asked who is the fittest player in the Indian cricket team? Well, without any debate, the answer was known to everyone – Virat Kohli. But the Indian pacer surprised everyone with his response. “I know the answer that you are searching for but I would like to say my name because I am a fast bowler,” said the 30-year-old.

“I’ve been playing for a while. Being a fast bowler and playing in this country in the heat takes a lot of requirements.
“So I’ll always promote fast bowlers and always take their name,” added Bumrah, who last couple of overs against South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final in Barbados, helped India clinch the title for the second time.

Meanwhile, both Bumrah and Kohli are in the Indian camp in Chennai ahead of the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. For the unknown, Bumrah is just three wickets shy of 400 international wickets across formats and will become the 10th bowler to achieve the feat.

Currently, Bumrah has 159 wickets Test wickets, 149 ODI wickets and 89 T20I wickets.
