Meet Anshul Kamboj, Mumbai Indians star who impressed with ball for India C in Duleep Trophy 2024
New Delhi: Anshul Kamboj hails from Karnal, Haryana. As he was born and brought up in Haryana, he represents his own state in the domestic circuit. He is a right-arm medium pacer who made his first-class debut for Haryana against Tripura on 17th February 2022 and since then known for his consistency. The 23-year-old made his T20 debut against Karnataka on 22nd October 2022 and impressed there as well, he grabbed 17 wickets in 10 matches at an economy rate of just 3.58. Following his journey, he turned a lot of heads in the 2023 Vijay Hazare Trophy in his breakthrough season, to carry his state to their maiden Trophy achievement. Then he debuted in the Indian Premier League for Mumbai Indians against Sunrisers Hyderabad dismissing Mayank Agarwal on 6th May 2024.
Talking about the present scenario he is in action at the Duleep Trophy 2024 representing India C, where the right-arm seamer shone with the ball on Day 3 of the Duleep Trophy match between India C and India B at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur. The 23-year-old picked up a five-wicket haul against India B. Interestingly, Anshul picked up all the wickets that fell since Day 3 morning. The speedster managed to dismiss all the top five batters, including Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz Khan, Rinku Singh, Nitish Reddy and Narayan Jagadeesan. All the big-ticket batters could not survive his pace and accuracy as he provided crucial breakthroughs to India C.
The 129-run opening stand was finally broken and Anshul struck again with the wicket of Musheer Khan, who managed just one run from 15 deliveries. Sarfaraz Khan fell for 16 to Anshul, who trapped him in front. India B found themselves in further trouble with the fourth wicket being Rinku, who departed after scoring four runs as he was caught by Ishan Kishan at mid-off. Nitish Kumar turned out to be the fifth scalp as he was cleaned up by the pacer.
