Topeka schools enter secure campus 'out of abundance of caution'
TOPEKA (KSNT) - A Topeka school took steps Friday to protect its students due to nearby events.
Dr. Aarion Gray with Topeka USD 501 shared an email distributed to parents and guardians of children at Eisenhower Middle School and Ross Elementary with 27 News on Sept. 13. The message states that both schools were placed on a secure campus "out of an abundance of caution" due to nearby activity outside the schools.
Gray said the secure campus conditions were lifted at 12:30 p.m. with students and staff continuing their day as usual. The activity outside the school which prompted the secure campus was not specified.
