0

TOPEKA (KSNT) –  Kansas transportation authorities are warning drivers in Topeka to be prepared for several upcoming bridge projects which may slow traffic.

Kate Craft with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) said drivers in the Topeka area will experience several lane reductions and lane closures in the near future associated with some bridge repair projects on U.S. 75. These include the following:

  • 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 - both directions on U.S. 24 will be down to one lane in the area beneath U.S. 75.
  • 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16 - both directions of U.S. 24 will be down to one lane in an area under U.S. 75. Both directions of I-70 will also be brought down to one lane beneath the U.S. 75 flyover bridges.
  • 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17 - southbound U.S. 75 flyover bridge to eastbound I-70 will be shut down. Drivers can follow a detour route to westbound I-70 to Fairlawn Road and on to eastbound I-70. Eastbound I-70 under the flyover bridge will be taken down to a single lane.
  • 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17 - both directions of U.S. 24 will be taken down to one lane in the area beneath U.S. 75.

Craft said drivers should expect delays when traveling through these areas in Topeka and make use of alternate routes. You can keep up with current road projects and conditions by calling 511 or consulting kandrive.gov.
