Report: Tottenham could face plenty of competition to sign Serie A star

0

Quotidiano Sportivo become the latest outlet to report on Tottenham’s interest in Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu but they say that the North London club’s pursuit of the left-back will not be straightforward.

Tottenham want a new back-up left-back

Spurs are expected to be in the market for a backup to Destiny Udogie over the next couple of windows and it has emerged that they could once again turn to the Serie A for a solution.

A few days ago, Quotidiano di Puglia claimed that Dorgu, who has won many admirers since breaking into Lecce’s starting eleven at the start of last season, is on the radar of the Lilywhites.

The report suggested that Ange Postecoglou would have to wait until next summer to get the teenager, who is allegedly valued by Lecce at €30m (£25.3m).

Soon after, Sport Mediaset also reported something similar, stating that Spurs hold a ‘strong’ interest in Dorgu.

Tottenham have competition in race for Dorgu

Quotidiano Sportivo have now revealed that Tottenham explored a move for the Denmark international in the recent transfer window but decided against the move.

The publication adds that the Premier League side are expected to reignite their interest in the Lecce star, but suggests that they would face quite a lot of competition, with the player’s list of admirers growing by the day.

Spurs Web Opinion

Dorgu is not likely to have any shortage of offers to choose from and one would think that he would be hesitant to move to Tottenham as he would know that Destiny Udogie will continue to be the club’s first-choice at left-back.

Either way, Spurs really do need a second-choice left-back who suits Postecoglou’s inverted system.
