The overall league record for making the highest jump to the top spot on the final day of the season belongs to Birmingham City. When they won Division Two during the 1954/55 season, they secured the title by defeating Doncaster Rovers by 5-1 away in their last match of the season. Before the match, Birmingham had been placed fourth with the top three clubs - Luton Town, Rotherham United and Leeds United - having all completed their fixture lists. The 5-1 win levelled Birmingham on 54 points with both _uton and Rotherham, but their goal average was the far best).
