Bomb threat closes Tam Union schools
An early morning bomb threat Friday shuttered all schools in the Tamalpais Union High School District.
The threat did not identify a particular school site out of the district’s five high schools, which include Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley, Archie Williams High School in San Anselmo, and Redwood, San Andreas and Tamiscal high schools in Larkspur.
The Mill Valley Police Department confirmed in an online alert that they were on site at Tam High. Central Marin Police Authority personnel were not immediately available for comment.
Tara Taupier, the district superintendent, said the threat came in to the district office in Larkspur at 7:30 a.m. Friday. She sent out a post to all district parents at 8:17 a.m. on Parent Square, an internal online newsletter.
All parents and students were advised to stay home or return home if in transit or if already on campus.
Taupier said later that, even though no specific school site was identified as a target, all schools were closed “out of an abundance of caution, in collaboration with our law enforcement partners.”
The police and the district “are currently securing campuses to ensure they are safe and will provide our community with an update as soon as we learn more,” she said.
