CORONATION Street star revealed Gail Platt’s exit storyline after former Sean Wilson as Martin Platt scenes were scrapped.

Corrie star Channique Sterling-Brown (who plays Dee Dee Bailey) posted a photo from the set during a night shoot that gave fans a clue about Gail Platt’s exit storyline.

A snap from the soap’s night shoot showed Gail’s house up for sale[/caption]

The snap shows Gail’s house is up for sale, No. 8 Coronation Street.

Gail and Martin moved out of the house she had shared with Brian and bought their own home at 8 Coronation Street in December 1991.

The current residents of the home include Gail’s son David Platt, his wife Shona and kids Max and Lily.

Meanwhile Gail’s other kids, Nick Tilsley and Sarah Platt, live in their own flats with their own children.

Helen confirmed earlier this month she had signed her final contract and would leave the soap at the end of 2024.

She said: “This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world.

“The past 50 years have flown by and I don’t think the fact that I am leaving has quite sunk in yet.”

Helen made her first appearance on the cobbles in 1974 as Gail Potter and carved out a role that would make her one of the most recognisable soap stars in Britain.

Gail has had more weddings – and surnames – than almost anyone else on the cobbles.

Corrie bosses had already filmed Gail’s exit storyline with her character’s former lover Martin Platt – played by Sean Wilson.

However, these scenes have been scrapped after Sean was called into a meeting with ITV execs last month and abruptly axed.

Soap bosses declined to give any explanation, insisting that the 59-year-old had “stepped down for personal reasons”.

A source previously told us: “A lot of people at Corrie didn’t know Sean had gone.

“Whatever it is, lawyers are involved because very senior soap bosses are not allowed to discuss it.”

Coronation Street's 2024 shock exits

Corrie has said goodbye to several cast members this year. Let's break down who's left the famous soap:

Eliza Woodrow (Savannah Kunyo) has said farewell to Corrie to start a new life in Germany.

The youngster moved to live with her dad Dom Everett, who went back on the £10,000 bribe Eliza’s grandfather Stu had offered to keep him out of her life.

Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) will bow out of the soap this summer when he loses his fight with motor neurone disease (MND) in tragic scenes.

After being diagnosed last year, the fan favourite was devastated to learn he only had months left to live.

Viewers know he is planning to take his own life to end his suffering.

Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) departed the cobbles after being offered the opportunity of a lifetime to study in America.

Though she struggled to decide with her stepdad Paul’s impending death from MND, she was convinced she had to live her life to the full.

Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) has struggled with the sudden departure of his father Peter from the cobbles.

The Weatherfield legend left his family and loved ones behind on Boxing Day, 2023, when his wife Carla Connor encouraged him to travel around the world with a friend.

Simon’s been on a downward spiral ever since and his exit could end in tragedy.

Alya Nazir is set to leave the cobbles as actress Sair Khan prepares to go on maternity leave ahead of the birth of her first child.

It looks likely she’ll be heading to Dublin after securing a lucrative new job, leaving her colleague and fling Adam Barlow behind.

Show stalwart Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen Grimshaw, is taking a break to star in the Sister Act The Musical UK tour. She will be back filming in May once her dates on the tour come to an end.

Her character left the Street after her son Jason broke his back after falling off a moped in Asia.

Sean has broken his silence – as he took to social media to thank fans for their support.

Sharing a snap of a light-up ‘love’ sign, he said: “Thanks for all the love xxx.”

Soap bosses have remained tight lipped when coming up with a new storyline for Gail.

The circumstances of the character’s exit remains to be seen.

But, the for sale sign at her house hints that she will be moving away from Weatherfield for good, and a new family will be moving in, but who?

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
