Massive 12.8 Billion Rupee Stadium Renovation by PCB to Enhance Champions Trophy Experience

Before the ICC Champions Trophy in 2019, the Pakistan Cricket Board has set aside 12.8 billion rupees to renovate venues in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced.

During the Board of Governors meeting in Faisalabad, Naqvi provided a briefing and guaranteed that all three locations will be prepared in time for the major event.

Providing specifics on the allocation of funds, Naqvi stated that the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore is being upgraded with 7.7 billion rupees out of 12.8 billion.

The construction of a pavilion with steel structure will cost 1,100 million rupees, the replacement of two LED digital screens will cost 330 million rupees, a concrete office building will cost 3,471 million rupees, the steel enclosure structure will cost 1,250 million rupees, a moat will cost 189 million rupees, and other expenses are unspecified.

At a cost of 523 million rupees, the board is also upgrading the floodlights at Gaddafi Stadium with 480 LED lights. Additionally, 375 million rupees have been set aside for seat installation, and 93 million rupees are for external development works.

The PCB has set around 3.5 billion rupees for the renovation of the Karachi National Stadium, which includes the new building.

The steel structure of the pavilion building will cost 1,500 million rupees, the main building and hospitality boxes will need to be renovated for 580 million rupees, two new LED digital screens will cost 330 million rupees, floodlights will be replaced with 450 LED lights for 490 million rupees, and seat installation will cost 340 million rupees.

An estimated 1.5 billion rupees would be spent on development at Pindi Stadium, consisting of 400 million rupees for renovations to the main structure, hospitality boxes, and restrooms, and 393 million rupees for the replacement of floodlights with 350 LED lights.

In addition, 272 million rupees will be spent on new seating installations, and 330 million rupees have been set aside for the replacement of two LED digital screens.
